Rc Rtf Helicopter Are Your Kids Saying I’m Bored

Submitted by: Bryon Gunderson

Are your kids starting to say “I’m Bored!” Maybe an RC RTF Helicopter (Radio Control-Ready To Fly) will keep them busy for a while.

There are some fantastic radio control electric helicopters, relatively inexpensive, that are very easy to fly, and will keep someone occupied for hours, well, until the battery runs down, but hey, just charge it back up and it’s ready to go agian.

I’m talking about a mini helicopter, about 8″ long and 4″ high. You fly them indoors, the living room, basement or where-ever there’s enough room. Why these are so easy to fly is because they are a “coaxial helicopter” meaning they have 2 counter-rotating blades, which eliminates the balance problems like with other helicopters wanting to tilt side-to-side or dive. To fly, all you need to do is charge the battery, follow any instructions that come with it, it may need a little trimming, slowly throttle up and it will start to lift, practice keeping it at a certain height, once you can do that, try going backward and forward, stopping at hover. When you want to turn right or left, it doesn’t actually turn like you’re going around a corner unless you have forward motion at the same time as turning. Makes sense, but somewhat of a challenge. If you as an adult caught the bug of flying radio control helicopter, you may like to check out a more advanced RTF Electric Helicopter. There are “fixed pitch” helicopters, which may be a little harder to fly than the coaxial helicopter, but a lot of times can be flown outside for more room and more maneuvers. Then if you REALLY get the bug, you can learn to fly a

“variable pitch” helicopter, those, when you get good enough, will do some pretty amazing things, but takes a lot, I mean a lot of practice before even trying to attempt some of those things, because chances are, at some point you probably will crash, so don’t go out and get the real expensive model, or you will be too scared to fly it and won’t be any fun.

I would consult an experienced pilot at that point for instruction and tips on how to begin and take it slow.

Even though these have somewhat limited capabilities, you can hover, up and down, move forward or backward and turn left or right. The helicopter always stays level so you don’t have to worry about it wanting to crash.

I would suggest buying the helicopter and taking it out when the kids aren’t around, fly it yourself a few times, get the hang of it, you’ll have loads of fun doing that, it’ll bring out the kid in you, trust me, I wait until my wife is gone to play with mine. Then you can be confident enough to show someone else how to fly and watch them have loads of fun.

It’s definitely worth checking out, because you may have just as much fun as the kids.

Zara Kay tells Wikinews about her non-profit organisation Faithless Hijabi

Monday, July 6, 2020

A number of Muslim-majority countries around the world implement Shari’a — the Islamic law — and have laws against apostasy and blasphemy. Numerous times, over the years, people have been sentenced to death penalty for renouncing Islam. Back in 2018, a Pakistani journalism student Mashal Khan was killed by a mob lynch after he was accused of blasphemy. At times there have been protests against the restrictions on free speech in Islam.

Other than the restriction of free speech, many Muslim majority countries have declared homosexuality as a capital crime, and observe a strict dress code for women. Iran has banned a number of female chess players for not wearing a hij?b. An Iranian woman was sentenced 20 years for removing hij?b while protesting the strict dress code.

Wikinews had gotten in touch with a Tanzanian-born ex-Muslim Zara Kay to discuss about the struggles an ex-Muslim woman faces, as well as her organisation: Faithless Hijabi.  Faithess Hijabi is an organisation which helps other ex-Muslim women by sharing their stories and experiences.  Its Facebook page has over 7000 likes, and Zara Kay, who identifies herself as an antithiest, had prefiously helped a Saudi teenager Rahaf Mohammed escape to Canada.

The following is the interview with Zara Kay that took place last year.

Sam Brownback on running for President, gay rights, the Middle East and religion
This article mentions the Wikimedia Foundation, one of its projects, or people related to it. Wikinews is a project of the Wikimedia Foundation.

Monday, October 15, 2007

Sam Brownback is perplexed. The U.S. Senator from Kansas and Presidential candidate is a Republican whose politics—he is against marriage for gay people, he is against abortion, and he has a clean image in a party tainted by scandal—should speak favorably to the party’s base. But it has not. “I’m baffled by that myself,” Senator Brownback told Wikinews reporter David Shankbone. “We haven’t been able to raise money.”

A recent poll in Iowa has put him in eighth place, with 2% supporting his campaign. “If we don’t finish fourth or better in Iowa…we’ll pull out.”

Senator Brownback’s relationship with God infuses almost every answer you find below. Although he doesn’t feel “competent” to explain why God would dislike gays, he does feel strongly that allowing two men or two women to enter into the union of marriage will destroy it for heterosexuals. Pointing to the research of Stanley Kurtz at the Hoover Institution, Brownback asserts that Northern Europeans have “taken the sacredness out of the institution.”

In the interview, Senator Brownback discusses the tug-and-pull that befalls him when his constituents show up at his office and say, “Look, I’m a conservative, but we need this bridge, we need this subsidy, we need this hospital.” Brownback feels this spending system needs to be changed; however, when it comes to energy policy, Brownback is there for his constituents. David Shankbone asked the Kansas Senator, a supporter of cellulosic ethanol, why he doesn’t support the lowering of tariffs on sugar since sugar ethanol delivers 8 times the energy output of cellulosic ethanol. Brazil, in particular, has become energy independent because of its sugar ethanol program. It’s cheaper to produce, and there is vastly more bang for the buck in sugar fuel than in corn fuel; an entire country no longer needs to import oil because of it. Federal tariffs currently make sugar ethanol too expensive in the United States. “You’re going to kill the ethanol industry here just as it gets going,” was Senator Brownback’s response. However, there is a debate over whether the process to make corn ethanol uses more energy than the ethanol itself produces.

Below is David Shankbone’s interview with Senator Sam Brownback.

Who To Call For Air Conditioning Installation In Cornelius Nc

byAlma Abell

Have you ever been sitting in your home or office with sweat just pouring off your body because your air conditioning is broken? Hopefully you have a trusted heating and air conditioning company you can call to come right out and repair your equipment. Preferably you can find a family owned business, because they tend to do a good job since their family name is on the line. They also tend to treat their employees like family which keeps them happy. You will probably prefer to have a happy technician to be working on your expensive HVAC system rather than one who is not at all happy with the faceless corporation they work for!

A good HVAC company will provide more than just Air Conditioning Installation in Cornelius NC. They also offer repair services on the air conditioner as well as services on the heating equipment for both residential and commercial units. They also offer emergency services during or after regular business hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. The company should be able to work on all brands and types of HVAC equipment regardless of the year or model including gas furnaces, air handlers, heat pumps, duct systems, duel fuel systems, and more. Plus you can receive a free estimate for any repairs or new equipment you may need.

You should ask the contractor who does your Air Conditioning Installation in Cornelius NC if he has a maintenance program for keeping your equipment running at optimal efficiency. Without regular maintenance, energy costs can increase up to 20 percent. This yearly maintenance for your AC includes inspecting the cooling coil, adjusting and cleaning the blower components, lubricating all moving parts, and a check of the thermostat. The technician will be able to catch any small problems before they become large problems. Maintenance on your heating unit includes adjustment of gas pressure, cleaning of furnace burners, and adjustment of air flow.

The HVAC company who does all this plus a whole lot more is Air Dynamics MS, LLC in North Carolina. This is a third generation company that has been family owned since 1923. The company is properly licensed and insured to take care of all your heating and air conditioning work.

A former mailman who proposed to paint the town hall pink, turn the local town square into a nudist pool, and to plant a marijuana field in the local park has been elected to the Reus, Spain town council.

Ariel Santamaria promised to show up to the town’s council meetings dressed up as Elvis Presley if he was elected and kept his word at the town’s first meeting on Thursday.

Before being elected, Santamaria who is a member of the Reus Independent Coordination, had also promised the town’s 100,000 residents that he would install a GPS system at the police department that would allow officers to track people who are smoking marijuana and provide them with a light if they need one.

An unnamed media consultant who works for Santamaria set up a website for his campaign and followed Santamaria wherever he went, dressed as a pirate.

Determining If Engine Rebuilding In Carmel, In Is In Your Best Interest

Author: Admin Posted under: Helicopter

byadmin

One of the most expensive types of repairs a vehicle will ever undergo, from a mechanical standpoint, is having to replace a vehicle’s engine. The good thing is, engines were designed to be extremely durable and outside of manufactured defects or neglect, having to replace the motor on a vehicle is one of the least likely repair scenarios. However, it does happen from time to time, and when it does, vehicle owners often look for more affordable options. One of those options is Engine Rebuilding in Carmel IN.

Is the Engine Under Warranty

One of the things that have to be considered when a vehicle owner is determining whether to replace their engine with a new unit or have their existing engine rebuild is whether the engine is currently under warranty. In many instances, with many manufacturers both foreign and domestic, the engine falls under the category of the powertrain of the vehicle. Manufacturers warranty the powertrain of the vehicle for extended periods of time. That means that if it’s a fairly newer vehicle, there is a strong likelihood that the engine is still under warranty, meaning that the replacement of the engine will be done with minimal to no cost to the owner.

Replacement Versus Rebuilding

If the vehicle is no longer under warranty, the cost of Engine Rebuilding in Carmel IN as opposed to replacing the engine needs to be considered as well. The cost for the parts to rebuild an engine is going to be cheaper than buying a brand-new engine unit. However, the labor is likely going to be a bit higher. How much higher will typically dictate whether a person chooses to rebuild the engine or replace it. However, if a repair shop charges reasonable rates for labor, the price for rebuilding the engine is likely going to be less than buying a new unit.

There are many different extenuating circumstances, and before determining what avenue you’re going to choose, whether it’s placement or rebuilding, it might be good to have the vehicle checked out again. You may find that your engine failure wasn’t catastrophic. Regardless, if you have questions about labor prices or you want an estimate regarding how much it will cost to have your engine replaced or rebuilt, you’ll want to Call us for more information.

IRA disbands military structure

IRA disbands military structure
Author: Admin Posted under: Uncategorized

Thursday, October 5, 2006

The Independent Monitoring Commission has reported that the Provisional Irish Republican Army has undergone major changes within their military structure and shows that the IRA Army Council wants to put its military campaign behind it. The Commission consists of John Alderdice, a former Alliance Party leader; Joe Brosnan, former Secretary General of the Department of Justice, Republic of Ireland; John Grieve, former Deputy Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police and former head of the Metropolitan Police Anti-Terror Branch; and Dick Kerr, former Deputy Director of Central Intelligence Agency.

The report states the IRA no longer has the capacity to mount a military campaign anymore or return to one. The units that have been shut down were responsible for weapons-making, arms smuggling and training. The IRA decommissioned their arms last year.

The report also mentions that the IRA has also put its criminality beyond use and is “clamping down” on criminals within the organization, said Lord Alderdice, as he presented the report. He also added, “That doesn’t mean that criminal activity by all members has stopped but the leadership has made public statements and internal directions, investigated incidents of breach of the policy, even expelled some members and has emphasised the importance of ensuring that business affairs are conducted in a legitimate way.”

Finally, the report added that there is not enough evidence or intelligence to identify who killed Denis Donaldson, a British spy who infiltrated the IRA and Sinn Fein, before revealing his status as a spy.

However, the report added that splinter groups like the Real IRA (RIRA) and Continuity IRA (CIRA) are still threats and are still continuing their activity. The Real IRA was the group behind the deadly 1998 Omagh bombing. The Irish National Liberation Army (INLA) “was not capable of undertaking a sustained campaign [against the British State], nor does it aspire to” according to the report.

It is also noted the creation of two new organizations, Oglaigh na hEireann (Irish Gaelic for “Volunteers of Ireland” and is used by the Irish Defence Forces and the various IRAs.) and the Republican Defence Army. However, the groups are small dissident factions according to the report.

The report also added that the two loyalist paramilitaries, the Ulster Defence Association (UDA) and the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) are also beginning to move from violence but at slower pace and not at a grassroots level like the IRA. Another loyalist paramilitary, the Loyalist Volunteer Force

The report was received warmly by Irish Toaiseach Bertie Ahern and British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Ahern, said “These positive and clear-cut findings are of the utmost importance and significance. It is time to make decisions and for Northern Ireland to look to the future.”

“The IRA has done what we asked it to do, and while issues like policing remain to be solved, the door is now open to a final settlement, which is why the talks next week in Scotland are going to be so important.” said Tony Blair in a live statement.

In a surprising reaction, the notoriously hardline leader of the Democratic Unionist Party, Ian Paisley, also welcomed the report. He believes that his party’s pressure is working and if Sinn Fein signs up to policing there could be a deal. Paisley said, “If the police question is settled absolutely on a democratic basis and principle we would have come a long way along the road.”

Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams said “The DUP don’t have anything other than very limited options. They will or will not participate in power-sharing arrangements. If they don’t participate they are condemning people here, but particularly their own constituents, to second class public services, run by second class fly-in, fly-out British ministers. All the DUP can do is to delay, is to attempt to slow down, but they can’t stop the process of changing.”

Obama lessens US ban on offshore drilling

Obama lessens US ban on offshore drilling
Author: Admin Posted under: Uncategorized

Thursday, April 1, 2010

US President Barack Obama has announced that he will ease the country’s ban on offshore oil drilling, which has been in place since the 1980s.

According to the plan, offshore drilling would now be allowed in parts of the Atlantic, from Delaware down to 125 miles beyond the shoreline of Florida, in the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

The move, however, does have some restrictions; drilling further northeast or along the West Coast is still prohibited. Contracts in Bristol Bay, Alaska were also suggested, but were scrapped due to environmental concerns.

The president remarked that he decided the move was needed to lessen the country’s need for additional energy, adding that he had studied the issue for over a year. “This is not a decision that I’ve made lightly,” he said.

“We’re announcing the expansion of offshore oil and gas exploration but in ways that balance the need to harness domestic energy resources and the need to protect America’s natural resources,” Obama continued, speaking at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. “My administration will consider potential new areas for development in the mid and south Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico.”

“Drilling alone can’t come close to meeting our long-term energy needs, and for the sake of our planet and our energy independence, we need to begin the transition to cleaner fuels now. I know that we can come together to pass comprehensive energy and climate legislation that’s going to foster new energy — new industries, create millions of new jobs, protect our planet, and help us become more energy independent.”

Obama said that the plan was partially intended to garner support from Republicans in Congress for a climate-change bill to lower greenhouse gas emissions, which has been languishing for months due to lack of support from Republicans.

Some environmental groups, however, condemned Obama’s move. Phil Radford, who is with the Greenpeace group, said that “[e]xpanding offshore drilling in areas that have been protected for decades threatens our oceans and the coastal communities that depend on them with devastating oil spills, more pollution and climate change.” Greenpeace also said that lifting the ban fuelled the US’ “addiction to oil”.

Republican leader for the House of Representatives John Boehner, meanwhile, said he agreed with lifting the ban in the Atlantic, but remarked that it “makes no sense” not to have lifted it in other areas as well. “Opening up areas off the Virginia coast to offshore production is a positive step, but keeping much of the Pacific Coast and Alaska, as well as the most promising resources off the Gulf of Mexico, under lock and key makes no sense at a time when gasoline prices are rising and Americans are asking ‘Where are the jobs?'”, he said.

“Today’s announcement is a step in the right direction, but a small one that leaves enormous amounts of American energy off limits,” said the Senate Minority leader, Republican Mitch McConnell.

According to the US Minerals Management Service, the eastern Gulf of Mexico and parts of the Atlantic south and east of the continent could contain up to 5.8 billion barrels of oil and 40.5 trillion cubic feet of gas. The West Coast, meanwhile, which remains off limits for drilling, contains 10.5 billion barrels of oil with 18 trillion cubic feet of gas.
