American helicopters and warplanes bombed 2 villages near Ramadi, Iraq on Sunday. The U.S. military said nearly 70 suspected insurgents were killed, while local witnesses said that at least 39 civilians, including 18 children, were also lost to the attack.

A Ramadi resident, Ahmed Fouad, said that just after 7 p.m. Sunday, U.S. warplanes killed 18 children, including Fouad’s son and 8-year-old daughter. “She was killed with her brother. Her mother had a stroke out of shock.” Fouad said.

Family members of victims gathered at a Ramadi General Hospital where refrigeration space for the dead bodies had been exhausted. In the garden the bodies of a woman and three children lay as relatives sifted through remains.

“[They] were not terrorists…they were only a bunch of civilians whose curiosity prompted them to gather around a destroyed Humvee,” said Dr. Dhiya Fahdawi in reference to the dead and wounded.

The U.S. military neither confirmed nor denied that civilians were killed and issued a statement saying; “All the attacks were timed and executed in a manner to reduce the possibility of collateral damage.”

Top exorcist says schoolgirl was kidnapped for Vatican sex ring

Thursday, May 24, 2012

Gabriel Amorth, the Roman Catholic Church’s leading exorcist, has suggested missing schoolgirl Emanuela Orlandi was kidnapped for sexual abuse at orgies attended by foreign diplomats and arranged by Vatican police. Orlandi was fifteen when she vanished in 1983.

Amorth, 85, who was appointed by the late Pope John Paul II, makes his remarks as Italian police try to determine if bones buried near the body of a mobster belong to Orlandi. Anonymous claims have suggested the tomb of Enrico “Renatino” De Pedis contains clues to her disappearance.

Investigators are examining bones removed from his burial site in the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare. Buried in a nearby crypt, the bones are thought to be centuries old but forensic tests are ongoing. One theory is Pedis kidnapped Orlandi to press Vatican officials over a financial dispute, with his onetime lover claiming her body was disposed of in a cement mixer.

Amorth refutes this explanation, and also an alleged “international dimension”; another theory is that the kidnapping was to try and secure freedom for Mehmet Ali Agca of Turkey, who shot at the pope in 1981. Orlandi’s vanishing “was a crime with a sexual motive” says Amorth. “Parties were organised, with a Vatican gendarme [policeman] acting as the ‘recruiter’ of the girls.”

He further told La Stampa “The network involved diplomatic personnel from a foreign embassy to the Holy See. I believe Emanuela ended up a victim of this circle”. “It has already previously been stated by [the late] monsignor Simeone Duca, an archivist at the Vatican, who was asked to recruit girls for parties with the help of the Vatican gendarmes.”

Orlandi has not been seen since she set off from the family apartment in the Vatican City, heading for a Rome music lesson. Orlandi’s father worked for the Holy See. Amorth is a controversial priest who lays claim to thousands of exorcisms and has criticised activities such as yoga and children reading Harry Potter books as spiritually harmful.

2020 Melbourne Lord Mayor candidate Wayne Tseng answered some questions about his campaign for the upcoming election from Wikinews. The Lord Mayor election in the Australian city is scheduled to take place this week.

Tseng runs a firm called eTranslate, which helps software developers to make the software available to the users. In the candidate’s questionnaire, Tseng said eTranslate had led to him working with all three tiers of the government. He previously belonged to the Australian Liberal Party, but has left since then, to run for mayorship as an independent candidate.

Tseng is of Chinese descent, having moved to Australia with his parents from Vietnam. Graduated in Brisbane, Tseng received his PhD in Melbourne and has been living in the city, he told Wikinews. Tseng also formed Chinese Precinct Chamber of Commerce, an organisation responsible for many “community bond building initiatives”, the Lord Mayor candidate told Wikinews.

Tseng discussed his plans for leading Melbourne, recovering from COVID-19, and “Democracy 2.0” to ensure concerns of minorities in the city were also heard. Tseng also focused on the importance of the multi-culture aspect and talked about making Melbourne the capital of the aboriginals. Tseng also explained why he thinks Melbourne is poised to be a world city by 2030.

Tseng’s deputy Lord Mayor candidate Gricol Yang is a Commercial Banker and works for ANZ Banking Group.

Currently, Sally Capp is the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, the Victorian capital. Capp was elected as an interim Lord Mayor in mid-2018 after the former Lord Mayor Robert Doyle resigned from his position after sexual assault allegations. Doyle served as the Lord Mayor of Melbourne for almost a decade since 2008.

Time To Fix A Low Credit Score With A Bad Credit Loan

Author: Admin Posted under: Financial Planners

By Sean Goudelock

Finding yourself in the middle of a bad credit situation is not pleasant at all and some people would rather not acknowledge their indebtedness until it becomes too much to ignore definitely a bad decision. You do not want your bad credit to stretch out for a long period of time. The longer it takes you to fix your credit situation, the more resources it will require and the greater the possibility of you having to give up some or most of your assets. Some people who have left their credit situation to take a turn for the worse have been forced to leave their homes and sell their cars to be able to give something back to their creditors. This is entirely unnecessary if you pay attention to your financial problem right away as it is looming over you. You can fix your bad credit score with a bad credit loan.

Missing out on one or several of your loan repayments for even a short period of time can be a cause for alarm for your creditors especially when it has gotten to the point when they have to put their collection officers to the task of trying to call you up to make a payment. This flags you up for a bad credit rating and will make it difficult for you to avail of most other credit facilities and get approved for certain financial transactions. There are still, however, financial institutions that make bad credit loan facilities available for people who are unfortunate enough to fall into financial difficulty. You can use a loan consolidation facility for people with bad credit but, as you already are in bad light in as far as your creditors are concerned, it would not be possible for you to get rock bottom interest rates. In case you are having difficulties paying off your federal student loans, the national government has consolidation programs with certain concessions you can take advantage of in your attempt to fix your credit situation and improve your credit scores.

Once you have consolidated your bad loans in a bad credit loan consolidation facility or using a federal loan consolidation instrument, you have to make sure that you are able to meet your repayment terms or you will be in even deeper financial trouble than you started with in the first place. Carefully drawing up a sound and realistic plan, taking into consideration your cash flow and projected expenses, is the best way for you to deal with your situation and will give you a roadmap that you can follow. Loan consolidation as a solution to having bad credit serves to decrease the amount of regular loan repayments to match the borrowers cash flow. Being able to follow through with the required payments under your new consolidated loan contract will earn you more points towards your credit score, getting it back to more acceptable levels within a certain number of years of excellent payment history. With prudent money management and disciplined saving, you will be able to succeed in putting your finances back in order, with all your financial obligations properly allocated for in your income and perhaps a little more left to put towards future financial needs.

Gastric bypass surgery performed by remote control

Gastric bypass surgery performed by remote control

Sunday, August 21, 2005

A robotic system at Stanford Medical Center was used to perform a laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery successfully with a theoretically similar rate of complications to that seen in standard operations. However, as there were only 10 people in the experimental group (and another 10 in the control group), this is not a statistically significant sample.

If this surgical procedure is as successful in large-scale studies, it may lead the way for the use of robotic surgery in even more delicate procedures, such as heart surgery. Note that this is not a fully automated system, as a human doctor controls the operation via remote control. Laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery is a treatment for obesity.

There were concerns that doctors, in the future, might only be trained in the remote control procedure. Ronald G. Latimer, M.D., of Santa Barbara, CA, warned “The fact that surgeons may have to open the patient or might actually need to revert to standard laparoscopic techniques demands that this basic training be a requirement before a robot is purchased. Robots do malfunction, so a backup system is imperative. We should not be seduced to buy this instrument to train surgeons if they are not able to do the primary operations themselves.”

There are precedents for just such a problem occurring. A previous “new technology”, the electrocardiogram (ECG), has lead to a lack of basic education on the older technology, the stethoscope. As a result, many heart conditions now go undiagnosed, especially in children and others who rarely undergo an ECG procedure.

What Services Do Pediatric Dentists Offer?}

Author: Admin Posted under: Education

Submitted by: Calvin Washin

A pediatric dentist is a professional who has studied basic dentistry and then went on to study childrens dentistry in order to specialise in childrens oral and dental healthcare. Some pediatric dentists also specialize in the oral and dental health care of individuals with special needs. These include people with autism and cerebral palsy. Pediatric dentists have to study for a further two to three years once they have completed their doctoral in dentistry.

Pediatric dentists are able to serve infants, toddlers, children and teenagers. You want to make sure that you select a dentist who is warm, friendly, professional and compassionate and offers a comfortable environment. The dentist has to be considerate of the entire well being of the child, the physical, emotional and psychological health is just as important as the care of their teeth. In fact, one of the main areas of study to qualify to become a paediatric dentist is child psychology.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child have their first dental check up round the age of 1.

Like the other specialised dentists, pediatric dentists are trained and specialised in certain practices and procedures. This means that there are some things that they will not be able to do for your child. For example, a pediatric dentist will not be able to perform dental implants or place porcelain veneers.

Below are some of the services that pediatric dentists offer.

Dentists focus on preventing tooth decay. So, you will notice that most of their services include measures to prevent and treat tooth decay. They also focus on minting the health of the milk teeth (primary teeth) until they are naturally lost so that the child is not impaired in terms of chewing for good nutrition, their speech development and the maintenance of the space where the adult teeth will grow.

Regular oral exams and checkups:

Preventative care:

The dentist will be able to advise you as to how you can cultivate a sense of the importance of oral hygiene in your child. They will also be able to advise you as to what you can do to resolve habits such as thumb-sucking.

Tooth extraction:

The dentist will be able to remove milk teeth that are late to fall out. This will help to make sure that the adult teeth grow healthily and in the right place.

X-rays:

This will assist the dentist to determine the dental development of your child.

Sealants:

This is used to seal potential cavities before they can develop.

Fluoride treatments:

This is used to treat the degradation of the tooth enamel resulting from plaque and sugars in the mouth. This is necessary as without it the tooth can decay.

Whitening treatments:

This is solely for aesthetic purposes to ensure that your child has a bright and white smile.

Taking your child to a general dentist is not sufficient. You have to take him/her to a paediatric dentist who has specialised education and training in childs dental needs and services to ensure that your child receives the quality of dental care that he/she needs.

There are plenty of health insurances that cover paediatric visits and procedures. However, if your insurance does not cover this, or you do not have health insurance, it is worthwhile to pay out of pocket. But, consider it to be an investment in your childs health. Dental and oral care is just as important as general health care. And, the pediatric dentist will be able to assist you to prevent future oral and dental problems for your child. Otherwise, you could end up having to spend more money on dental procedures for your child in future. Pediatric dentists usually charge the same fees as general dentists.

Saskatchewan places moratorium on boar farming, says escaped boars should be killed

Saskatchewan places moratorium on boar farming, says escaped boars should be killed
Author: Admin Posted under: Uncategorized

Saturday, March 14, 2009

At the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) conference, a resolution was passed that encourages the Government of Saskatchewan, Canada to place a moratorium on specialty livestock farms raising wild boar. All wild boars that have escaped to roam wild should be killed, according to the resolution.

Agriculture Minister Bob Bjornerud endorses a ban on wild boar farming. The wild boar population is expanding exponentially. There are over 2,000 feral Sus scrofa swine roaming the prairies. Two litters of approximately 12 piglets are sired by each wild boar sow every year. The Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation (SWF) likewise passed a similar resolution at their 79th annual convention to urge the Saskatchewan Government to declare the wild boar as a nuisance species which can be killed on sight.

3% of farmed “wild” boars escape. Cells of wild boars are ravenous creatures killing and eating everything in their path. Horses, cows, and other livestock run from wild boars, breaking through fences in the process.

Ostriches, emus, llamas, alpacas, reindeer, wild boar, and fallow deer were amongst the animals introduced to farms in Saskatchewan during the agricultural diversification program in the late 1970s. Production of wild boars was promoted throughout the 1980s.

According to the Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food 2001 statistics, there were 150 wild boar producers raising approximately 15,000 and 20,000 head. Of these there were about 2,700 sows. On the 2006 Census of Agriculture, 401 farms reported 4,926 boars.

The boar’s red meat is an export commodity to Europe and Asia. The live breeding stock are also sold to trophy hunt ranches. Full blooded wild boar and hybrid crosses are raised.

Strong winds and heavy rain across southern UK

Monday, March 10, 2008

The southern United Kingdom has experienced heavy rains and strong winds, with approximately 10,000 homes now without power. In addition to damage to property, many journeys have been disrupted, as a result of cancelled flights, in addition to closed roads and rail tracks.

The UK Met Office described the current conditions by saying that “the Met Office continues to expect an intense low pressure system to move east across the UK during Monday, bringing severe gales and potentially damaging gusts across some areas, more particularly the west and south of England and Wales. Southerly winds are expected to strengthen during the early hours of Monday to give severe gales for a time, coinciding with the morning rush hour in some areas.”
